Odeon of Herodes Atticus
1 September 2025 Tickets Tickets
Christos Leontis invites you on Monday, 1 September, to the Herodion, to welcome together the old and beloved friend of Aristophanes, as he joins the grand popular celebration conceived and conducted by the composer himself, titled “Aristofaneia.”
The Aristophanes appearing on stage comments on the current affairs of his time—matters which may well seem strikingly familiar to our present day…
This musical performance is based on the music composed by Christos Leontis for productions by the Art Theatre and the National Theatre at Epidaurus, featuring Aristophanes’ comedies: The Acharnians, Plutus, Ecclesiazusae, Wasps, Knights, Lysistrata, and Peace.
“A torrent of melodies and songs in a heavenly harmony,” just as the poet once dreamed.
Aristophanes will be portrayed by Stamatis Kraounakis.
Performed by: Tasis Christoyiannopoulos, Ioanna Foutsi, Angeliki Toubanaki, Petros Damoulis, and Klavdia.
Featuring 3 Choirs and 2 Orchestras:
Christos Leontis’ Folk Orchestra and the Polis Ensemble.
