Women who refused to conform—uncompromising, pioneering, revolutionary, pirate, witch, and warrior women—become songs that bind our souls and awaken our minds.
This year, just days after 25 November—International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women—I once again feel the urgent need to share “For Women” with you.
Because every 25 November—and indeed, every single day—we remember all those women who dared to overturn the status quo, who resisted, who stood firm.
And we stand beside those who continue to fight.
One beside the other.
“For Women” was created in 2021. For me, it is a personal offering—a tribute to the women of places and times past and present. A cosmic invocation to all the women I deeply admire.
Memory. Awakening. Vigilance.
And the profound source of inspiration behind the most precious initiative to me—our FOR WOMEN Artivism Festival.
On Saturday, 29 November, together with my beloved collaborators, we will create a multidimensional sonic universe—woven from traditional and electronic sounds, loops, and polyphonic textures—narrating the stories of women who became songs across the world’s musical traditions.
