Interview on gazzetta.gr: Angeliki Toumpanaki’s “Circles”
by Alexandros Stergiopoulos, December 14, 2025
Angeliki Toumpanaki at “Stavros tou Notou Club” (December 15 & 29): Crafting “Circles” That Connect…
Musical circles, vocal circles, social circles, timeless circles—
the circles of our lives.
A poetic introduction to Angeliki Toumpanaki:
The rolling stone gathers no moss; with the sun at her back, she becomes a sunstone—unstoppable, radiating light. This means her journey bears no preconceived notions of perfection or imperfection. Everything human recognizes the fluid element within—and offers a little of the moisture of its own eyes. And when a drop—a tear, a bead of sweat—falls upon the sunlit surface, the cloud is released, meeting the upright, cloud-like knives that slice it into countless, eternal fragments. Celestial collisions begin, and rainbows scatter gold and feelings brimming with understanding. The rain from above meets the rain from below—and the circle births yet more circles, endlessly…
And words “descend” the white meadow only to rise again onto the roof of Angeliki’s voice. Within the great circle of life, her circles differ and yet are identical—at the very same moment! When you hear and inwardly see what Angeliki speaks, you grasp what lies between the sky’s “Long live!” and the earth’s “Amen”: music. As an indefatigable artisan of her art, wielding her voice as both tool and heart, she invites us to the project Circles on December 15 and 29 at Stavros tou Notou Club. Let us go—to witness, to listen—how the light-trees of our soul grow taller.
Musical circles, vocal circles, social circles, timeless circles.
Angeliki deeply loves what she does—and never ceases to study, investigate, explore, and share it. It is both beautiful and enriching to listen to her; her creative gaze “opens” the mind and illuminates thought. In this endeavor, she desires—and is able—to do the following: to craft circles—musical, vocal, social—that weave together sounds and memories, tradition and contemporary motifs, our voices into beloved songs. Because what truly matters and endures in this life? Love that ripened into devotion—and thoughts that conversed with chance and blossomed into songs.
She herself, speaking of Circles, says:
“Twenty years filled with music, people, travels, collaborations, and upheavals—twenty years built upon voice, body, research, collective ensembles, and an unrelenting need to transform sound into an inherently shared experience.
In this new encounter, I open a fresh circle—one that ties together all the previous ones. A circle linking my roots with what I seek today—between all I’ve lived, all I continue to learn, and all I long to create.
It is a musical journey that belongs to no fixed genre, but rather to an inner necessity: to explore, to deconstruct my own motifs. I remain faithful to what makes me happy—collective creation, spontaneous connection with the audience, free expression through music—beyond tribes and genders, beyond borders and social conventions.
And every circle we form remains open: it holds voices, stories, memories, moments—and beloved faces.”
