EVENTS BY THE ASSOCIATION “FRIENDS OF MUSIC”
MEGARON – THE ATHENS CONCERT HALL (Christos Lambrakis Hall)

The concert was dedicated to the memory of Aris and Lilian Voudouri.

Through his music, composer Dimitris Maramis brings to life emblematic works of Greek literature with both respect and a contemporary perspective, through a distinctive tetralogy: “Erotokritos,” “Haunted,” “Captain Michalis,” and “Eleftherios Venizelos.”
The modern Greek musical “Erotokritos” (2017) inaugurated the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera and was subsequently performed at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, and the Heraklion Cultural Center.
The music-theater trilogy “The Haunted” (2019) premiered as a commissioned work at the Athens Concert Hall.
This was followed by the folk opera “Captain Michalis” (2021) and the opera “Eleftherios Venizelos” (2023), works commissioned by the Region of Crete and the Heraklion Cultural Center, respectively.
Angeliki Toumpanaki participated in the concert, performing compositions from “Captain Michalis,” adding her own expressive signature to an evening dedicated to contemporary Greek musical creation.
Across a career spanning more than twenty years, Dimitris Maramis has succeeded in bridging past and present, captivating both connoisseurs and broader audiences alike, and highlighting the timeless power of Greek musical artistry.
