For Aggeliki Toubanaki and the performance “KYKLOI” (CYCLES)

“Yesterday, I had the extraordinary privilege of attending an astonishing performance by the charismatic Aggeliki Toubanaki at Stavros tou Notou. She is a remarkably versatile and multitalented artist, fully prepared for anything. Yet it is not only her extraordinary vocal range—capable of realizing whatever the imagination conceives—that makes her exceptional; it is her movement, expression, and the masterful way she commands both her voice and her body. She transforms familiar songs, making them uniquely her own, infusing them with an utterly fresh, distinctive style. Effortlessly navigating tradition, jazz, rock, and ethnic idioms, she sets her own terms—never constrained by genre or content.

Moreover, her extensive experience as a group facilitator and, more broadly, as a healer, grants her a complementary role as conductor and stage director, actively drawing the audience into the heart of the performance.

I must also extend my deepest admiration and gratitude to the outstanding musicians who shared the Stavros tou Notou stage with her last night: magical interpretations on every instrument, all performers gifted improvisers, their artistry seamlessly aligned with Aggeliki Toubanaki’s singular artistic persona and distinctive orchestration style.

I consider myself profoundly fortunate to have met Aggeliki Toubanaki. She has elevated my musical and artistic experience to an entirely new, higher plane—and for this, I am truly grateful. Her performance was not merely a wonderful, unforgettable musical event; it was a mystical initiation—a therapeutic experience of infinite beauty.”
